Atmospheric pressure

The term 'Atmospheric pressure' as it applies to the area of Earth observation can be defined as ' The amount of force exerted over a surface area, caused by the weight of air molecules above it. As elevation increases, fewer air molecules are present. Therefore, atmospheric pressure always decreases with increasing height. '.

The term 'Atmospheric pressure' as it applies to the area of the weather can be defined as ' The pressure exerted by the earth's atmosphere at any given point, determined by taking the product of the gravitational acceleration at the point and the mass of the unit area column of air above the point'.

The term 'Atmospheric pressure' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' Pressure of air enveloping the earth, averaged as 14.7 psi at sea level, or 29.92 inches of mercury as measured by a standard barometer'.
